Established in 2018, Atelier 522 is an elegantly curated gift and home decor boutique that offers high quality, European-inspired decor for your home, garden and body.
Artist and owner Elizabeth moved from her long-time home in Toronto to Grey County and was seeking a studio space. After visiting the nearby village of Neustadt, she was charmed and inspired with the stately yellow brick building listed for sale on the main street and an idea was born!
After some much-needed refining, the run-down space was transformed from a drab and weary apartment and resurrected to its former glory as a classic village storefront. What began as an inspired notion bloomed into a thriving retail business and art studio that now draws visitors from near and far.
“It’s so beautiful in here!”
As a visual artist, Elizabeth is the creative force behind the “atelier” (French for artist studio or working space). Her large-scale chalk mural wall inside the store has become a highlight for visitors and works as a striking backdrop to her merchandising which includes tastefully curated imported pieces to elegant works created by local artisans. Elizabeth’s studio is located in the back room of the storefront, and visitors are always invited to explore the art space. “I love welcoming my customers and guests into the studio,” says Elizabeth. “They are fascinated with a working artist studio and enjoy watching as my pieces progress. It’s a great extension to the Atelier 522 experience”.

Asked how she chooses what to bring in to her store, Elizabeth answers easily, “I want your visit to Atelier 522 to leave you feeling inspired. I love every item that I curate and I want my customers to love it, too. High-quality, timeless design is what I look for. Investment pieces that will stand the test of time and not fade out with passing trends.”
